I agree, but I think we really need to look at why these people try to come here.

Mexico is a country rich in Natural resources. The people of Mexico are not afraid of hard work. The problem lies with the multinational companies that spend a lot of money to save even more money by keeping the conditions in Mexico as they are. It protects the cheap source of labor.

There 5 or 6 drug cartels at war with each-other, and a government at war with the drug cartels. And there are two groups of rebels waring on the country.

Until there is stability in Mexico, and better conditions there, we will have illegals come across our borders. And they will come regardless of how well we protect them.

These people are literally dying to get here. So if you think shooting them will stop all of them, you are mistaken. It will stop only the ones that are shot!

George I agree with your description of the Mexicans who just want better lives. But immigrants all over the world want this. Where does one put them all? We have to remember that the first world nations only comprise a TINY fraction of the world. Most countries are overcrowded, smelly, poor. It sucks enormously and it makes me sad but we're talking FIVE BILLION people who likely want to be in America. How does America house all of them? How does America protect these people when so many Americans yell at their own government to stay out of foreign affairs? And more than that, how can America, just one nation, be expected to solve the world's problems en masse? And if they are, how to choose who gets the help we, as first worlders, CAN give?

Here's my theory on the best way to do that if you're bent on helping. Help your family first, buddies second and everyone else after that. It's the human way, after all.

Keep up the good work Border Agents. Thank you for your service in protecting our country. I consider you guys to be right up there with the Army/Marines. You deserve better than to be crucified for doing your job. If it wouldn't have put your butt in the sling, I'd prefer you had shot all of them.

There are a lot of problems, but I would like to focus on the 10 children families when there is only one job for them and the assumption that many will go north for work and send money home.

SuperSapien, I am not saying we should open our borders, I am simply attempting to focus a little light on the reasons these people pour over our boards.

I believe that if you build a fence of dead bodies shot through the head, more illegals would just step or climb over it.

I am very concerned about the problem we have with illegals. I see every day the problems it causes in my community.

The point is to change what makes these people come here. WE need to address the catalyst to the problem. If you have a pipe break in your house, you should turn off the water at the main connection rather than trying to carry the water out with buckets!

We need to enact policies that promote positive changes to the conditions of the Mexican people.
Actually it is not just Mexicans coming over our southern boarders. There are people from virtual all the countries south of the boarder. And it is not unrealistic to assume that some come from other parts of the world in-order to enter our country.

Simply shooting everyone is not the answer.

God bless and keep our INS (Border Patrol) personnel.

listen up george! it is not our duty nor responsibility to change conditions in mexico. that is up to the corrupt morons in charge. mexico has and always will be a corrupt third-world craphole. its not our fault, its their fault. i agree, it is not JUST mexicans crossing the border. mexicans simply make up 99.9% (or some number very close) of those who cross illegally.
its time to end the tolerance of this bs. its ok to be tolerant of an unfavorable situation for a time. when it continues with no end in sight and becomes much worse as time goes by its time to cut the tolerance. cut all ties with mexico. deny all illegals any and all medical care unless they can pay for it on the spot. do not allow children of illegals entry into our public school system, they water down the education american kids receive. heavily fine all employers who knowingly or not hire illegals, with jail time for a second offense. in other words, treat illegals the same way mexico treats illegals. if we do these simple things they will leave. one more thing george, tolerant people tend to get walked on.

This will send a message. Illegal ailens are not entitled to cross at will. Some are job seekers and a very small amount are criminals and terrorists. Americans need to eliminate scab labor.

It is time to shift priorities to shooting bosses of illegal ailens first.

Let us not forget 2 of our agents are in Prison due to a judge

Getout...... While I strongly agree that Agents Compean and Ramos should be freed and yesterday. I think the biggest miscarriage of of justice is what these bought and paid for politicians are doing to our country. They are the ones who have created this mess and allow the invasion to continue. Almost every week these bought and paid for bureaucrats do everything within their power to circumvent the will of the American people to stop the invasion. On www.numbersUSA.com I just received an alert this morning that the California Legislature is trying to opt out of E-verify which checks to make sure that people are legally allowed to work in our country. Most Republicans are supporting E-verify while many of the Democrats are voting against it. I know that some of you are not going to like what I have to say, but in the California legislature many Mexicans are in the government. They are the one who are doing the most to aid the illegals, their people. To me they are nothing less than traitors and should not be allowed to continue in office. They took the oath of office to support and aid the American people not their personal agendas. These illegal supporters with their re-conquesta mentality are a big part that this vexing problem persist. American people please take note of these Mexican patriots no matter their nationalities and make them pay for their treason. Stop the Invasion. Go INS, ICE and the Border Patrol. I support you!! Keep on shooting to protect your lives form the vermin invaders.

I am happy the agent shot him in the butt. I am sure the next time he tries to cross the border he will use his head. Anyway, I for one am sick and tired of hearing all this HYPOCRITICAL nonsense from the Mexican Govt. The Mexican Govt. is saying that its "not right" to shoot at any of their citizens from U.S. soil, but there is nothing mentioned about the Mexican Govt. criticizing or disciplinary actions towards the Mexican citizens who are throwing rocks and such at our federal agents.
Bottom line, i firmly believe we need to take the gloves off the Border Patrol so they really can do their jobs and protect our borders. I do not think we are at a "shot now ask questions later" policy yet but cut our men some slack. It really chaps my butt that illegals can come into the United States and not be held accountable for their actions. When did this country become so LAME??

They need to learn respect for the boarder and they that patrol it.
Mexico should have their own patrols to lock up these people that are breaking the law, where are they?
We need to start charging Mexico for the boarder fence and patrols that we tax payers are having to pay.
I could go and on but one thing is for sure Mexico is a disgrace to it's people and it's neighbor.
On last thought maybe we could buy Mexico for a few pesos and turn it into a productive country oh yes don't forget the oil, we sure could use that.

The Agent did the right thing and hopefully other agents will follow suit. Agents put their lives on the line everyday at the U.S./Mexico border and should not have to. Mexico needs to step up to the plate and keep their citizens in their country where they belong. We have to become a nation that stops people from entering our country from other countries. The way ouronomic situation is, can we really afford our own basic needs? No, but the U.S. Government seems to come up with the money to support these illegals. Even our "esteemed" President said, "The immigrants will do the work that Americans refuse to."

Typical double standard - Remedios Gomez Arnau represents the Mexican government as being upset because lethal and/or non-lethal missiles are launched from the U.S. side into the Mexican side of the border. Yet he ignores the [over] 300 attacks in 10 months where lethal and/or non-lethal missiles are launched from the Mexican side into the U.S. side. PLUS, those attacks appear to have been diversions by some so that others could commit another illegal act; sneaking into the U.S.

Senor Arnau, if you don't like it, discourage your people from committing illegal acts.

Since no has said it yet, I will. MrIndia, congrats! on your status, and you must have great fortitude to wait patiently for 10 years. You did it the right way. And I am happy to see you standing up for the principle of the law about 'illegals'.

I don't agree with the racist comments on here, but I do understand and appreciate the defense of the American border by our BP.

I used to live in San Diego and still have lots of family there. Seeing running Mexicans is a common sight and most people look away.

I remember my family would drive to San Ysidro every Monday morning and pick-up a lady who came home with us for the week (she did cleaning, cooking and was our sitter when adults weren't home) and we would drop her off every Friday evening. She was legit, had all the proper papers. But she had a daughter to raise and this was her chance to bring some money home.

I learned so much about the Mexican culture and the food... oh the food...

If the corrupt Mexican government was toppled and replaced with honest people, if they would support men like the recently replaced military leader that was actually making progress in the war on drugs and corruption, then one day it will be better for the regular folks in Mexico.

Until then, we will continue to see this problem increasing.

Good for him. If we shot a few more in the "buttox" then maybe they would think twice about trying to get over into America illegally. We obviously haven't scared them enough in the past. Mexican govenment just loves to get rid of them so they don't have to pay for them. In the past, they have just been walking across the border - so that I can end up paying for their kids to go to our schools. California is overcome with illegal immigrants. It's time we give them a good "shot" in the butt !

So where were the Mexican authorities that should have been breaking up this frenzied mob of rioting Mexicans? My guess is their forces were afraid to approach this rock throwing gang because they would have turned on their own police force as well.

I personally do not agree with firing live rounds into a foreign country. That said , if they are bold enough to cross the border, in plain view of armed border patrol... well they get what they get and hopefully the aim of the agent will improve.

The Consul General complained about our shooting of an illegal immigrant? Perhaps Mexico should better serve their people and spur development within their own country instead of expecting Americans to provide the jobs.

The San Diego Consul General María de los Remedios Gomez-Arnau was written up in the San Diego Union Tribune with the headline "New consul to help county's Mexicans, Immigrant rights 'is her strong suit'"

Sorry, but we're supposed to be a nation of laws, not of men, our President notwithstanding.

"This incident is of great concern to the government of Mexico," said Remedios Gomez Arnau, the consul general in San Diego. "Under no circumstances would it be justified to shoot lethal or non-lethal objects to the Mexican side of the border."

But... wait... I heard that Mexico has shot immigrants trying to cross from various south american countries. So... what? Am I wrong or are they hypocrites?

And, um... was he not shot in the ASS? Worse can happen if you get into a fight...

We spent $51 million of airline flights to bring illegals to México City (so they'd supposedly have to go too far to cross the border again).

Why can't we slip a chip (like we can with cats and dogs) to automatically label them as illegal (barring that, a tatoo on the forehead would do) and shove them back into Mexico? A second incursion: we ship them to the Mexican Consulates from which they can't leave except to go to México.

sounds like the agent needs to spend some more time on the practice range. Improve his marksmanship.

Here's my comment e-mailed straight to the Consul General in San Diego:

I suggest you pay heed. Illegal immagrants are entitled to nothing. Improve conditions in Mexico so they can stay there OR ELSE make them stop migrating illegally. When they start demonstrating as if they are entitled to be here, they only alienate more Americans. If we were China, ALL potential immigrants would be shot DEAD if they tried to come across our border.

Until Mexico agrees to enforce the integrity of their own border and stop the flow, we should close the border using deadly force si es necessario (if it's necessary).
